What is Red Nose Day all about?
The world feels a bit gloomy out there, but Red Nose Day is all about the power to make the world a better place and this year we feel that we need each other more than ever. We’re optimists and that’s why we’re asking the nation to join us and come together and make a difference to people’s lives both here in the UK and worldwide.
Since its launch, Comic Relief has been an organisation that brings people together. Millions of people, young and old to fundraise, to buy t-shirts, red noses and merchandise, and enjoy a big night of TV–while donating hundreds of millions of pounds and showing solidarity with people they’re unlikely to ever meet. But we’re not delusional. We know that Comic Relief can’t cure the world of all its ills. However,it can create a sense of hope, unity and kindness.
So this year, we have just one request – come together. We need each other right now more than ever. It’s easy to get involved and have a great time. From workplace bake sales and fancy-dress fundraising in schools, to danceathons, quizzes and sponsored challenges, we're asking people to put on a Red Nose and do whatever they can to raise life-changing cash. It all culminates in a massive night of comedy and entertainment on Friday 15th March, live on the BBC, and all the money raised is then used to change countless lives, both here in the UK and worldwide.
